St Matthews is 'all about the dance'. Or that's what the man at HMV told me, selling me one of his recommended versions.
This and – Bach – Cantatas could remind me of Easter but this tends to be oh so 'religious' which I don't relate to or the surrounding culture. Yet, playing along/play St Matthew all weekend, if anything, seems fitting. Gimmie something to write about here.
And the pagan-roots of the calendared event neither bother me or enthuse. I notice the locating of Jesus in history and physical pain. Yes, resurrection but mostly seen, are crosses and white robes. A weekend of consideration. Congregations peak.
Like Bach, the Cross, can seem antiquated and dated. Or present, and most relevant of all. All I know, think or feel.
And the humanity of God, historical, is now present – here as I type.
